Trenches Report:
January 2012
Hello friends and family,
Well the new year has brought a lot of new changes for Welcome Home! Changes to the staff, church, and personal lives of our people.
Early in the month, Pastor Mark buried his grandfather. The service was beautiful and grandpa's passing as wonderful as it could be expected to be. He passed with no pain and everyone had a chance to say goodbye to him. As grandpa put it, "I have no regrets and I am ready to go home."
Anita Howard, our youth pastor and Father's Closet director has decided to step down after careful consideration and a lot of prayer. No one is sure what she'll be doing next, but we know if God lead her away, then He will guide her to what she is supposed to do next. Pastor Mark is directing the youth for the time being and is gearing up for SAGA in a few months. Charles Jones is taking over Father's Closet. He has made many changes and we are open with regular hours once again. We will be praying for him as he takes on this ministry with God's leading.
Our building hasn't undergone many new changes lately, but we are getting ready to paint the sanctuary and put in the hanging ceiling soon. Then the carpet will finish up our remodel.
Some things haven't changed at Welcome Home. God is still God and in charge as we follow him and do His will in our lives. We still have exciting worship and in depth bible studies that stretch us and help us learn what being like Jesus is really about. Wednesday evenings we are exploring, denominationalism through the history of the Church. We will begin a comparitive religions study following that and then look at cults and the occult. It has been a great time so far.
We really do believe that we're called to "Become Family through Freedom in Jesus Christ." We would love for you to join our family!
